Parents; your child's success in scouting will be enhanced by your knowledge and participation. The only requirement is your willingness to get involved. Don't overlook the monthly Roundtables which are great places to get started with training. News Flash -- Reporters have just uncovered that Professor Gobstopper has indeed blown up his laboratory. Scout Show Ticket Kickoff -- It's time to start selling Scout Show Tickets. Kickoff meetings will be held at the March Roundtables. Training Opportunities: Scouts Deserve Trained LeadersTroop Committee (Camporee) -- Saturday 3/6. This training course ensures you understand the roles and responsibilities of each troop committee member. It is a team-building experience ideal for the whole committee. Held at camporee for those attending. Venturing Leader Specific Training -- Two evenings 3/10 and 3/17 - FUMC Richardson, Room 203. Get up to speed quickly on what Venturing is all about and how to facilitate a great venturing experience. Venturing Outdoor Leader Skills -- Weekend 4/23-4/25 - Camp Wisdom. An intense, hands-on training program intended to introduce and refresh adult Venturing Leaders in the practical skills and planning of outdoor activities for Venturing Crews. Online Registration Boy Scout Leader Specific Part I (Classroom) -- 3 evening course Wednesdays 3/10/10, 3/24/10 & 3/31/10 7:00 - 9:45pm. For adult leaders in Boy Scout units. Leaders who work directly with boys in a unit should attend. This is Scouting (available online) is a prerequisite. To be considered "trained" you need to take both Part I and Part II. Boy Scout Outdoor Leader Skills Part II (Campout) -- Weekend 4/9-11/2010 Friday evening through Sunday afternoon. Outdoor Leader Skills Training, Boy Scouts Part 2 (Campout). Learn by being a part of an actual scout troop. Excellent training and a lot of fun. This is Scouting (available online) is a prerequisite. To be considered "trained" you need to take both Part I and Part II. Basic Adult Leader Outdoor Orientation (BALOO) -- Saturday 4/10/2010. Basic Adult Leader Outdoor Orientation (BALOO) This course is targeted at Cub Scout leaders who have a desire to plan and carry out an introductory level outdoor experience for their pack. BSA regulations require that a minimum of ONE (1) member of your pack must have this training in order for your pack to go Family Camping. Webelos Outdoor Leader Skills (Campout) -- Weekend 4/10-11/2010 Saturday morning through Sunday afternoon. Learn how to have a successful and safe camping experience with your Webelos Scouts. Leave No Trace Trainer's Course -- Orientation: Wednesday, March 3, 2010, at 7 pm at CiCi's Pizza in Mesquite, TX. Course schedule. Powder Horn -- Two weekends 3/12/10 and 3/26/10 High Adventure Skills Resource Course, Two locations will be used; 3/12/10 at Camp Wisdom and 3/26/10 at Camp Cherokee. Woodbadge Training 2010/2011 -- Advanced leadership training for adult scouters. This experience will have a profound impact on your life both in and out of scouting. Cub Scouts:Arrow of Light Ceremonies -- Schedule Order of the Arrow members for ceremony in full regalia. Boy Scouts:Yanush Chapter Meeting -- Tuesday, March 9th, 7:30 pm - 8:30 pm First United Methodist Church of Richardson. Oak Leaf Leadership Training -- Saturday & Sunday Mar. 27-28, 2010, Oak Leaf is a junior leader training course designed to supplement Troop level training. It is for Boy Scout youth, First Class Rank or above who will be serving in a leadership capacity within their Troop. Sign-up on-line now! Uniform Closet -- North Trail District has a "clothes closet" for "gently used and experienced" uniforms and other scouting materials. These items are available to scouts who need them. Welcome Home a Hero Today -- Everyday, Soldiers return from overseas at DFW airport, help show your support and welcome these men and women home.
